Residents Reminded to be Alert for Suspicious Behaviour

Residents are being reminded to be alert for any suspicious behaviour after a homeowner reported a man in a high-vis jacket who was wandering the streets on Caldershaw and going up and down drives today (22nd August 2018).

When confronted the man said that he was working for the Council and checking for potholes.  However, when questioned further the man got aggressive and defensive and only reluctantly showed an ID card.

Still being suspicious the resident phoned the Council to confirm if there was any work taking place in the area.  Council staff told her that no work or site visits were scheduled, took the details and advised her to call 101 to report the incident.

The man is described as being in his late 30's / early 40's, white British with a beard and receding light brown hair.

Remember, it is always okay to ask for ID and that any legitimate contractor or Council worker should offer this without question and be okay with you checking on their credentials with their company to verify the details.
